I have seen the play about ten times now and have heard the cockamamie explanation. And still, all I can say is that the San Diego Chargers were robbed.
It’s bad enough when a referee blows a call that cost you a game. It’s even worse when he admits it but then says there is nothing he can do about it.
I thought the reason the NFL instituted instant replay was to prevent situation like this.
Apparently, that is not the case.
So, the Broncos get the highly controversial win and the San Diego Chargers are left knowing they should have won the game but the referees took it from them.
With the competitiveness of the AFC this loss could be the difference between getting a playoff berth and not.
It’ll be interesting to see if the NFL issues an apology later this week.
Even if they do, it won’t matter.
They should have got the call right in the first place.
