I’ve researched everywhere and I can’t find a political explanation for the word “maverick”. Since I am trying to make an informed decision on November 4th, I figured I should try and understand what the word means – especially since neither McCain nor Palin has truly provided a definition. Still, that seems to be their big platform.
They are reformers and mavericks.
I find that to be interesting.
And while McCain has repeatedly challenged Obama’s experience, which I’m sure he thinks is a valid argument. I would like to know what his comfort level is with Sarah Palin being a breath away from the Presidency. Apparently, there are several Republicans who aren’t comforted with that possibility. Some have even called for her to step down.
I know that the thought makes me very uneasy.
But, then again, they are reformers and mavericks. So, I guess that doesn’t matter.
The other thing that is confusing me is this bailout. I’ve been thinking about it since it was passed and quite honestly, I don’t know all that it entails. But, one thing that I think should be in there, if it isn’t, is a provision for people who owe money to these financial institutions accepting the bailout money. Shouldn’t their debt be forgiven? It would seem a little unfair if an institution is basically able to sell their debt and still try to recoup it.
Wouldn’t it? I think so.
Maybe someone can help me make sense of all of this.
Thank you in advance.
